Summaries[edit | edit source]

Chapter 1[edit | edit source]

Vivid BAD SQUAD performs at a live house and do well, but Akito leaves feeling like his skill is lagging behind his teammates. He wakes up early the next day to practice alone before rehearsal, concerning Toya.

In the Street SEKAI, the members meet KAITO, who is being yelled at for mistakenly eating Len's ice cream. KAITO is a DJ, and MEIKO explains that Len has become his student recently. Akito is unsure about KAITO, thinking him to be a little absentminded.

Chapter 2[edit | edit source]

Vivid BAD SQUAD performs at another live house. After the show, Akito overhears audience members talking about Touno Arata, who claims to be the one who will surpass RAD WEEKEND.

The team, along with Ken, exchange information about Arata. He's an up-and-coming singer who left to study overseas, but has since returned. He had a partner at one point, but doesn't currently. The team plans to attend a live show he's performing at to scope out the competition.

On their way home, Akito and Toya run into Arata doing an impromptu street performance, and Akito decides to see his talent for himself.

Chapter 3[edit | edit source]

Akito introduces himself to Arata, who has heard of Vivid BAD SQUAD. Akito doubts his ability to surpass RAD WEEKEND on his own, but Arata refutes that he has more of a chance of succeeding than Vivid BAD SQUAD. He digs into Toya, An, and Kohane, criticizing their ability. Akito is overwhelmed with anger, challenging him to a song battle. Toya is reluctant, but agrees to join him. They put on a great show together, but Arata is unfazed.

Chapter 4[edit | edit source]

CONTENT WARNING: This chapter contains discussion of severe injury caused by a car accident. Please read at your own discretion!

When Arata steps up to sing his piece, the crowd, including Toya and Akito, are blown away. Akito admits his defeat, but doubles down on the fact that he's dedicated his life to surpassing RAD WEEKEND. Arata is unimpressed, saying that giving your life to your dream is the bare minimum.

Toya asks what happened to Arata's partner. He tells them that his partner brought him to RAD WEEKEND and had a dream of surpassing it, but got into a car accident that left him partially paralyzed, so Arata continues to chase his dream on his behalf.

Arata tells Akito that he's the least skilled of his group, and if they ever do surpass RAD WEEKEND, he can't see Akito standing alongside his teammates. Arata bids them goodnight, leaving Akito angrier than ever.

Chapter 5[edit | edit source]

Akito sulks, admitting that he's the weakest link of the group. Toya reminds him that they've always taken the hit and come back stronger, and they head home.

Akito thinks back to the early days of BAD DOGS. Audiences were harsh, praising Toya but unimpressed by Akito. Akito spent hours upon hours singing alone, all so he could get his skill to Toya's level. He recognizes the same feeling from then, happening now.

The next day, Akito tells the group that he wants to compete in events alone, taking on the workload along with group activities. The team is worried, but lets him do it, unable to stop him if they tried.

Akito enters events alone, determined. He leaves team practice to attend another event, but nearly collapses on his way out. He shakes it off, but Toya follows him, Kohane and An not far behind.

Chapter 6[edit | edit source]

Toya pleads with Akito to stop overworking himself and rely on him for support. Akito ignores him, feeling he doesn't have a choice if he wants to improve.

Toya, An, and Kohane convene at WEEKEND GARAGE, concerned but at a loss for what to do. They travel to the Street SEKAI to ask for advice, and KAITO assures them that they should let Akito rely on them, as his teammates.

The trio travel back to the real world, determined to find Akito. Before they can, Mita Kotaro enters WEEKEND GARAGE, worried about Akito. He tells Toya about Akito's activities in their early days, pushing himself to the brink to improve, which Toya never knew he was doing. Kotaro tells them that Akito is at a live house called BROWN, and the group leaves.

Chapter 7[edit | edit source]

Akito meets Arata again at a live event and puts on a good performance, wowing the audience and Arata. Arata decides to step it up a notch, giving a performance that blows the crowd away. Akito falls into despair, realizing just how far behind Arata he is, despite his rigorous practice.

Toya, An, and Kohane burst into the venue, enrolling Vivid BAD SQUAD to participate at the last second. Toya tells Akito that he pulled him up when he first found him singing on Vivid Street, and he needs to let Toya do the same for him. An and Kohane chime in that he's looked out for them time and time again, and that it's their turn to return the favour.

Akito realizes that he doesn't have time to despair, and he needs to keep getting back up if he wants to achieve his dream.

Chapter 8[edit | edit source]

Vivid BAD SQUAD bring the house down, and Akito realizes that, though he can't alone, the power of all of them together can definitely surpass RAD WEEKEND.

Arata demands the event ends in a draw, leaving the door open for him to show down against VBS another time. An and Kohane introduce themselves to him, and he commends their performance. Akito admits to him that he lost badly, but he's going to keep practising hard and overcome Arata, with the help of his teammates.

Akito tells his teammates that he still needs to get better, but instead of going it alone, he's going to rely on them to lift him up.
