Azusawa Kohane (小豆沢 こはね) is a second-year student at Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy. She's part of the street music group Vivid BAD SQUAD.

Character Bio

Original

"Kohane is very shy and lacks self-confidence. Her passion for music began when she saw An jamming with other musicians at a live music cafe bar. It was her first encounter with rap and fast-paced music unlike anything she'd learned at school."

Brand New World

"A girl who used to be shy and timid, but through friendly rivalries and mutual encouragement with her teammates, along with the training she received from Taiga—one of the members who performed at the legendary event—Kohane has now become confident in her own singing. She was once defeated by Taiga and felt frustrated because of it, but later stood back up and declared to him that she'd definitely surpass "RAD WEEKEND"."

Background

Kohane's father is a photographer, and when she was in kindergarten, the two adopted a white snake they named Count Pearl. Kohane feels a sisterly bond with Count Pearl, considering him family, and claims that she can tell what the snake is thinking or feeling.

As a first year, Kohane was classmates with Hinomori Shiho and Hanasato Minori in Class 1-A. As a second year, she is classmates with Hoshino Ichika and Mochizuki Honami in Class 2-A. Kohane is a former member of the animal care committee, and switched over to the beautification committee during her second year.

Appearance

Kohane has light brown eyes and blonde hair. Prior to joining Vivid BAD SQUAD, her hair was waist-length, worn in low twintails, and she wore round glasses. After becoming a member of VBS, she cut her hair to shoulder-length, worn in mid-length twintails, and switched her glasses for contact lenses.

Original

Kohane's original outfit consisted of a grey shirt with the word "Smile" printed on it with a white collared shirt underneath, a pink, red, and white-colored oversized varsity jacket, and a short denim skirt with a long white belt with the word "ANGEL" printed along its length. She also wore a black and white cap backwards, a loose black choker with a small heart pendant, high-cut cream-colored sneakers and thigh-high grey socks with white stripes.

Brand New World

Kohane has three outfits as of Brand New World.

Her unit outfit consists of a white sweater with "CORDIAL" printed on the chest and "GENIALITY" on the left sleeve, layered over a blue collared shirt. Black suspenders are clipped to a dark blue skirt, which is accented with a pink belt and buckles. She wears blue knee-high socks and pink sneakers, and a white cap turned backward.

Her casual outfit consists of a white long-sleeved shirt and denim skirt under an oversized peach-coloured sweater vest. She wears thigh-high black socks, a gold pendant, and a black cap turned backward.

Her school outfit is the standard Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy uniform with a tan-coloured cardigan layered on top.

Personality

Kohane had never been confident person, as she tells An during the Awakening Beat story. Over the course of Vivid BAD SQUAD's stories, she makes it a point to become more open and brave. Despite her anxiety, she is quite determined, performing solo acts, practicing in public, and eventually training under Kotaki Taiga. Her efforts result in more confident, yet still humble, attitude.

Kohane is also shown to be obsessively passionate about the things she loves. She has the layout of Phoenix Wonderland memorized, and goes to the park often. When striving to improve her singing, as in Kick it up a notch, she can sing for hours on consecutive days, losing track of time while she does so.

Despite her meekness in social settings, Kohane has a liking toward other things people would usually find frightening, such as roller coasters, bungee jumping, and her pet snake.

Relationships

Vivid BAD SQUAD

• Shiraishi An: Fellow member of Vivid BAD SQUAD. It was An who first introduced Kohane to the street style of music, and encouraged her to start singing it herself. Before forming VBS, the duo made their own group called Vivids. An often likes to brag about Kohane's talent, making Kohane flustered, and is very possessive of Kohane as her partner. As mentioned by Akito, An "only ever talks about Kohane".
• Shinonome Akito: Fellow member of Vivid BAD SQUAD. Kohane was initially intimidated by him, but still feels concern and care toward him and his relationship with Toya. Akito often encourages Kohane to come out of her shell, and Kohane often asks Akito for various advice on performing. Akito also has a habit of teasing Kohane about her shyness, much to the disapproval of An and Toya.
• Aoyagi Toya: Fellow member of Vivid BAD SQUAD. Toya and Kohane are similar in that they struggle to communicate well with others, though Toya is somewhat envious of Kohane's ability to visibly express emotion. Toya often offers Kohane his technical knowledge in music, through both singing and composing.

• Hanasato Minori: Friends and former classmates in Class 1-A. It is shown that Minori was the first high school friend Kohane made, and vice versa. They were both on the animal care committee in their first year, and often discuss their burgeoning music careers.
• Kiritani Haruka: Part of Kohane's friend group with Minori and An following Buddy・Funny・Spend Time ♪.
• Momoi Airi: Kohane's acquaintance. They first meet in the Beyond Prayers, the Tomorrow We Wish for Is... event, but become more well acquainted in the Wishing for Your Happiness Upon the Blue Sky! event.
• Otori Emu: Friends, as seen in the Let's Have the Absolute Best Summer! event. Kohane can easily understand Emu's wacky way of speaking.
• Akiyama Mizuki: Kohane's acquaintance. The two only briefly meet in the KAMIKOU FESTIVAL! event before Mizuki leaves her with An. They're shown to be on friendly terms afterwards.

• Shiraishi Ken: An's father and Vivid BAD SQUAD's mentor. Ken is quite fond of her, calling her "little lady" and offering her help and advice whenever she needs it.
• Kotaki Taiga: An's "uncle" and Kohane's former mentor. Taiga mentored Kohane for a short time, using unusual methods to help her better connect to an audience. After the Light Up the Fire event, Taiga gives up being Kohane's mentor to tour America. He becomes an antagonistic figure, telling her that she will never surpass RAD WEEKEND. In the On Your Feet event, Kohane reaffirms her dream and tells Taiga she will surpass him.
• Kotaki Nagi: A figure Kohane has never met, but admires greatly.
• Mita Kotaro: Part of Vivid BAD SQUAD's event performance group. Kohane looks up to him as a solo act, and often asks him for advice.
• Touno Arata: A former part of Vivid BAD SQUAD's event performance group. Kohane looks up to him as a solo act, and often asks him for advice.
