Kotaki Taiga (古瀧大河), also known by the stage name WALKER, is a side character associated with the unit Vivid BAD SQUAD .
He first appears in Vivid BAD SQUAD's event story Awakening Beat, with his first named appearance in Bout for Beside You, and makes frequent appearances throughout the groups event and card stories.
Background
Taiga is the former partner of Shiraishi Ken and a world famous street musician.
Taiga was born and raised in the Vivid Street area, and grew up singing on the streets there.
In junior high school, he became classmates with Shiraishi Ken. The two, along with Taiga's younger sister, Kotaki Nagi, eventually formed a group called RADder.
In his 20s and 30s, Taiga helped RADder gain international recognition. When Ken's daughter An was born, he helped look after and mentor her.
Three years before Vivid BAD SQUAD's Main Story, Taiga's sister Nagi was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and given 5 months to live. She requested Ken, Taiga, and all the residents of Vivid Street not to tell An of her passing.
As Nagi's final wish and swan song, he organized and performed in a legendary event known as RAD WEEKEND.
After Nagi's death and the disbandment of RADder, Taiga travelled overseas and became well known under the stage name WALKER.
Appearance
Taiga has brown eyes, short brown hair with grey streaks, and a close-cut beard.
He wears a grey t-shirt and a black jacket with green detailing. He also wears distressed green khakis, a wristwatch on his left wrist, and a dog tag necklace.
Personality
Taiga is laid-back and self-assured. He's friendly to all the musicians and staff on Vivid Street.
Taiga is also extremely stubborn in his beliefs, refusing to compromise them for anyone, even Ken and Nagi, which can lead him to be cruel and rash.
Relationships
- Azusawa Kohane: Taiga's apprentice. After hearing her sing, Taiga took Kohane under his wing and started mentoring her, even after refusing to mentor anyone, including An.
- Shiraishi An: Taiga's "niece". He cares deeply for her, and admires her spirit.
- Shinonome Akito: A young Vivid Street musician, and member of Vivid BAD SQUAD.
- Aoyagi Toya: A young Vivid Street musician, and member of Vivid BAD SQUAD.
- Shiraishi Ken: Taiga's former groupmate in RADder, who he organised RAD WEEKEND with. They've been rivals since they were kids. Though still close friends, he fundamentally disagrees with Ken on how to handle Nagi and RADder's legacy.
- Kotaki Nagi: Taiga's younger sister, best friend, and former groupmate in RADder. They were close their entire lives, occasionally bickering but ultimately inseparable. Taiga is extremely protective of RAD WEEKEND and Nagi's legacy, disagreeing with her and Ken that her dreams should be passed on to the next generation.
