Shiraishi An (白石 杏) is a second-year student at Kamiyama High School. She's part of the street music group Vivid BAD SQUAD.

Original

"The easy-going yet spirited daughter of a retired musician who had quite a reputation on the streets of Shibuya. An's goal is to put on a show that surpasses her dad's RAD WEEKEND gig."

Brand New World

"Bright, sincere, and open-minded, An is the poster girl of her family's cafe, WEEKEND GARAGE. While working to create an event that can surpass the legendary event "RAD WEEKEND" that her father and his teammates created, An was shocked to hear the truth of what happened to Nagi, the person she admires. However, after learning about Nagi's true feelings from her father, she stood back up and promises once again to surpass the legendary event."

Background

An is the daughter of Shiraishi Ken, a popular Vivid Street musician and member of the group RADder. She was born and raised in the Vivid Street area, regularly spending time with her father and his bandmates, Kotaki Nagi and Kotaki Taiga.

From a young age, Ken, Nagi, and Taiga taught An to sing and write music. She spent her days practicing on the street and charming the locals, becoming well-known in the area.

When An was in middle school, three years before Vivid BAD SQUAD's Main Story, RADder put on a legendary event known as RAD WEEKEND. She was in attendance, and afterward made it her goal to become a professional musician and surpass that night.

Following the event, Nagi went overseas without notice. Taiga travelled to America shortly after to pursue his music career. An's father retired from music, and opened a live cafe and bar, WEEKEND GARAGE, where she worked part-time. During this time, she met Shinonome Akito, and shortly after, Aoyagi Toya.

As a first year, An was classmates with Akiyama Mizuki in Class 1-A. As a second year, she is classmates with Akito and Kusanagi Nene. An is a former member of the disciplinary committee. She sometimes acts as an emergency sub for Kamiyama High School's basketball team, though she is not on the team itself.

Appearance

An has orange eyes and long black hair with blue tips, worn loose with two hairclips on her left, and small star clips around her hair.

Original

An's outfit consists of a black shirt tucked into her white shorts with neon green accents, two black straps on each side hooked to the front and back of her shorts, and a blue-green and white oversized jacket which has the word "HEADS" printed on its left sleeve and neon green accented strings. She also wears a pair of neon green headphones around her neck and white sneakers.

Brand New World

An has three outfits as of Brand New World.

Her unit outfit consists of a black and teal long-sleeved crop top with shoulder cutouts, paired with white pants with a red accent. She wears two silver necklaces, a belt with the word HEADS printed along its length, and black and teal sneakers.

Her casual outfit consists of a white cropped sweater with black and purple stripes over a black and lime green crop top. She wears distressed flared jeans.

Her school outfit is the standard female Kamiyama High School uniform with a tie, with a gray and black cardigan layered on top.

Personality

An is a cool and candid girl with an unyielding spirit. Her fiery determination helps motivate her to her goal of being better than RAD WEEKEND. As her father mentions, she's always been extremely confident, driven, and independent, and she never lets situations intimidate her, seizing every opportunity.

An shows a sweeter side to her friends and cares about them very much, getting along with people very easily. She has no trouble introducing herself and charming those around her, and as such, she has many connections and acquaintances around Shibuya who are fond of her.

As of Bout for Beside You, An begins wrestling with feelings of inferiority and jealousy over Kohane when the latter shows immense improvement in her singing. Despite her attempts to ignore and reconcile these feelings, she's afraid of being left behind by Kohane, both in skill and in life.

Relationships

Vivid BAD SQUAD

• Azusawa Kohane: Fellow member of Vivid BAD SQUAD. It was An who first introduced Kohane to the street style of music, and encouraged her to start singing it herself. Before forming VBS, the duo made their own group called Vivids. An often likes to brag about Kohane's talent, making Kohane flustered, and is very possessive of Kohane as her partner. As mentioned by Akito, An "only ever talks about Kohane".
• Shinonome Akito: Fellow member of Vivid BAD SQUAD. The two share a rival dynamic, teasing and bickering with each other often. Akito usually acts as a bearer of bad news, delivering blunt truths to An, as in Someday, with Our Lyrics Joined Back-to-Back. This bluntness isn't out of malice, though, as Akito knows it's what An needs to grow and improve.
• Aoyagi Toya: Fellow member of Vivid BAD SQUAD. The two have mutual respect for each other, with Toya often comparing An's passion and drive to Akito's. An occasionally likes to tease him, though Toya's sincere personality usually makes it fall flat.

Other Units

• Hinomori Shiho: An's acquaintance. They first meet in the In the Corner of a Resonant Town event.
• Hanasato Minori: Friends following the Scramble Fan FESTA! event. They grow closer in the Buddy・Funny・Spend Time ♪ event.
• Kiritani Haruka: An's close friend from middle school, who attends a different high school. They still hang out together outside of school, and have a friendly rivalry with each other.
• Hinomori Shizuku: Friends following the Wishing for Your Happiness Upon the Blue Sky! event. The two knew of each other before this event, An knowing Shizuku from her former idol group Cheerful*Days, and Shizuku hearing of An from Haruka. An admires Shizuku, and is very flustered by her beauty.
• Akiyama Mizuki: Close friends and former classmates in Class 1-A. An regularly soothes Mizuki's anxieties, assuring her that she won't stand out during KAMIKOU FESTIVAL!, and keeps secrets for Mizuki. Mizuki likes to tease An, especially taking advantage of her fear of ghosts.
• Shinonome Ena: An's acquaintance. The two meet in the My Footprints, Your Destination event, where An is eager to make Ena's acquaintance as Akito's sister. An thinks that Ena isn't nearly as difficult as Akito makes her out to be.

• Shiraishi Ken: An's father. He fosters her love of music from a young age, and encourages her to pursue her dream of surpassing RAD WEEKEND.
• Kotaki Taiga: An's "uncle". He's a guardian figure and an inspiration to her, having grown up under his care. An mentions that she begged Taiga for years to mentor her, which he refused. After he left for America, the two became distant, but were still amicable upon his return in Bout for Beside You. After the Light Up the Fire event, he becomes an antagonistic figure, telling her that Nagi would be disappointed in her, and that she will never surpass RAD WEEKEND. In the On Your Feet event, An reaffirms her dream and tells Taiga she will surpass him.
• Kotaki Nagi: An's guardian figure and inspiration. According to a variety of characters, An takes after Nagi with her kindness and determination, and she looked up to Nagi through childhood to her death. Following her discovery of Nagi's passing, An is determined to live up to Nagi's dream, and go farther than she ever could.
• Mita Kotaro: Part of Vivid BAD SQUAD's event performance group.
• Touno Arata: A former part of Vivid BAD SQUAD's event performance group.
• Okazaki Tatsuya: A former part of Vivid BAD SQUAD's event performance group.
• Miyata Souma: An's acquaintance. She doesn't visit Souma as often as Toya or Akito, but thinks he's kind and a good conversationalist.
